Privacy in the preview
Your resume and results are private. No employer sees them, or learns who you are, unless you choose to share your contact details.
This page describes the preview. Updated September 30, 2026.
Your account
You sign in with your email address. We keep that address with your account, because sign-in links are sent to it, along with when it was confirmed, and the same address without any plus tag (and, for Gmail, without dots), so each inbox gets one free upload. A sign-in link works once, for thirty minutes, and we store only a coded form of it that cannot be turned back into the link.
Your resume
When you give your resume with your email address, we keep only its text, encrypted, until you open the link we email you, and delete it if you do not within thirty minutes.
UnApply is invite-only. When your address has no invite yet, giving your resume puts it on the waitlist: we read the resume then and keep the summary of your experience for up to 120 days, and we keep your address on the waitlist to send your invite. Joining sends one email to say you are on the list. To be removed, write to hello@unapply.io.
Our processing providers read your resume to create a summary of your experience. The uploaded file is then discarded. The summary includes professional information such as your roles, skills, certifications, public work, and any location stated in your resume.
Your results
Your experience summary, company suggestions, discovered people, and your Path work stay with your account until you delete it. Results from before accounts, opened with an invitation code, are available for seven days from the upload and are then removed during cleanup.
To delete your account, choose “Account settings” in the Account menu at the top of the page, then “Delete my account.” After you confirm, your account, results, resume summary, Path work and invitations are deleted at once, on every device, and we send one email to your address to say so. The spending records we keep for each reading and search stay, with no link to you. Database backups made before the deletion keep a copy for up to seven days, until they are replaced. On Pro, “Delete my results and resume summary” removes one set of results and keeps the account.
Your browser uses a secure cookie to keep you signed in for thirty days, renewed when you return, and remembers your display preferences. Sign out ends the session at once. Use a browser on a device you trust.
Invitations from companies
Companies that pay to be featured on UnApply can invite people whose work aligns with theirs. They can never search for or invite a named person: a featured company whose work aligns with yours sees only an anonymous profile, and you decide whether to answer each invitation.
While it is on, a featured company whose work aligns with yours sees an anonymous profile: a code, your Score with that company, the kind of work you align through, your level, the skills that align, and your credentials. It never sees your name, employer, job title, dates, location, public work, resume, answers, people, Path or notes. Your current and former employers never see you. Featuring never changes your Score or the order of your companies.
You decide whether to reply to an invitation. Declining needs no reason; the company sees only that you declined, and you can stop that company from inviting you again. If you share your contact details, or introduce yourself to a featured company, it receives only the name, email address, LinkedIn profile and note you write, and keeps them to reply to you. Deleting your account removes your invitations from UnApply; details you already shared stay with the company that received them.
Finding people
Selected professional details from your experience help us look for relevant people in public sources. The people found for your results are saved privately with them. UnApply does not contact them for you.
Professional information about you
You can appear in UnApply's professional research without having an account. We use public professional information to explain relevant companies, shared experience, and possible connections. Inclusion does not mean that you know a user, endorse UnApply, or want to be contacted.
Information can include your name, current or former employer, professional role, broadly stated location, public work, and links to supporting sources. Sources include employer websites, professional publications, event pages, and public search results. Our processing providers help find and interpret that information. We label uncertainty; a public source can still be incomplete or out of date.
Relevant information may be shown to people who use UnApply. It is not sold as a people list, and UnApply does not send outreach on your behalf. The purpose is to support professional learning and relevant connections. Our stated basis for this use is legitimate interests, subject to your interests and applicable law.
People found for someone’s results are kept privately with those results and deleted with them. Shared professional research has no automatic expiry. We retain the minimum suppression information needed to prevent a removed person from being added again. Operational backups may retain earlier records until their scheduled expiry.
Processing uses Google Cloud and Cloudflare for hosting, Anthropic and OpenAI for interpretation and search, and Resend for email delivery. Information may be processed in the United States and in other locations used by these providers.
You can ask what information we hold about you, request a correction or removal, or object to its use. You do not need an UnApply account. We may ask for proportionate information to verify the relevant identity before disclosing information or changing a record. You can also raise a concern with the data protection authority where you live when applicable.
